Hi

We are using custom field for extra content. So we created a custom Editor field for loading different contents. (see screenshot 1)

By clicking on one of the content plugins the site is freezing and only by closing tab / reloading page we can get out from there. (see screenshot 2)

Using the content plugins in the "normal" editor field in content works fine. So we only have a problem with custom field.

Changing the Editor to TinyMCE make it work also in custom field.

Any idea where could be the problem with JCE and custom fields?

We are working with:

JCE 2.9.41 Pro
Joomla 5.0.2
PHP 8.1.27

Hi

We just installed the latest version 2.9.58. Unfortunately we still have the same problem. Page is freezing by clicking on one of the content plugin buttons showed in custom field.

Any idea how we can solve this?

This appears to be an issue related to rendering the JCE Editor and buttons for multiple Joomla versions (3, 4 and 5). Some changes in Joomla 5 appear to require a specific way to render the buttons which at this time I am unable to accomodate in the current version of JCE.

One solution is to add the "Joomla" button (the JCE editor button with the Joomla logo) to the editor toolbar, and therefore accessing the editor-xtd buttons from a list on this button, similar to the core Tinymce editor. I have does this on your site and it does work as expected.

I'm continuing to look into a solution for this that will allow for the use of the below-the-editor buttons in Joomla 5.
