Essentially what you are creating is an empty paragraph between 2 other non-empty paragraphs, is this correct?

You don't have to add the space (spacebar) to the empty paragraph, because empty paragraphs are automatically padded with a non-breaking space so that the browser will render it correctly in the front-end.

To create a space between 2 paragraphs without using an empty paragraph, you would usually use a margin style on one or both of the non-empty paragraphs. Your template may have a suitable style available for use.
