- How to create a link to a file in a volume outside of normal file path
I need to be able to create a link in an article to a file in a specific folder that is at the root level called "docs". Presently in the editor I only have access to "Contacts", "Content", "Menu", and "Weblinks". How can I get "docs" to show up in the listing in the link creator?

These are for creating links to article content, not files.
You can create a link to a file by clicking on the File Browser icon in the URL field.

Ryan, Thank for your prompt reply. I did eventually figure that out. However, is there a way to get a volume other than Contacts, Content, etc., to display in the large field where these icons are listed (the area below the search field)? I want to make this as easy as possible for certain users that will be allowed to edit articles. I've figured out how to constrain certain categories of users to only one specific volume in the file browser. So for them to get there, they just have to click on the File Browser icon. But, it would be better if the first thing they saw when the Link window comes up is their volume displayed where Contacts, Content, etc., normally would be. Right now I've turned Link-Search off for those users, so it's blank where Contacts, Content, etc., would be. I guess the real question here is, is there a way to add another volume to the Link-Search list in the link plugin parameters? I could then simply uncheck the volumes I don't want displayed.
Please install JCE Pro 2.6.27 Beta 2 - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/editor/category/development
then download and install this plugin - https://github.com/widgetfactory/jce-links-files
You can configure the File Directory Path etc. for the JCE File Links plugin in Editor Profiles -> Plugin Parameters -> Link.

This works perfectly. Definitely worth the price of admission. Thanks

Hi Ryan,
I have installed the plugin, but I could't get it to run.
The Installation runs quit well, but I didn't have an entry like "Editor Profiles -> Plugin Parameters -> Link" in my JCE-Configuration.
I only have "Profiles -> Default -> Plugin Parameters -> Link-Manager" . But there I don't find the other entries of your example.
What can I do?

Does that mean, that I can now make links to files with the extension defined by the plugin?
Think of this as an alternate way of creating a link to a file, instead of using the File Browser option in the URL field.
