Hi there,

I'm just working on an EasyDiscuss forum for school mathematics on https://www.mathelike.de.

1) Easydiscuss allows the integration of JCE Editor. How can I integrate a reduced copy of JCE Editor with a necessary minimum of Editor Buttons?

2) Refering to https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/support/forum/93141: Is there a chance to get a LaTeX Equation Editor in JCE integrated? I'm using embedded LaTeX Code which works fine with MathJax. But students mostly don't know about it.

You can create a specific profile for use with EasyDiscuss, and assign only those buttons you need.

To do this:

1. Go to Components -> JCE Editor Profiles.

2. Select the "Default" profile, or your main profile, and click the Copy button.

3. Click on the name of the new profile to edit it, then in the Setup tab, give the profile a new Name and Description, set Enabled to Yes, and set the Ordering to Order First.

4. In the Assignment section, set Components to Select from List and then select the component to assign the profile to, eg: EasyDiscuss.

5. In the Features & Layout tab, remove the buttons you don't need from the editor toolbar by dragging them into the Available Buttons & Toolbars area. You can remove a whole toolbar by dragging it too.

6. Click Save.

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.

This might be quite a project, and I would ideally need something to start with. Is there a javascript based equation editor you can recommend?

1) That's great. Thanks a lot for detailed instructions. In the component assignment section I've found Komento but not EasyDiscuss from Stackideas. I guess I should ask StackIdeas support about this?

2) Sorry, I'm not familiar with javascript.

Here are some Online-LaTeX-Editors which are useful to my needs:

Good because simple: https://www.matheretter.de/rechner/latex

https://www.codecogs.com/latex/eqneditor.php
This one is used with this joomla plugin: https://joomlakave.com/joomla-plugins/equation-editor-for-easydiscuss. But it's just one button referring to the editor.
