For anyone else who is looking for answer to image being stripped out of custom field.
Thought this was in the options for JCE. It is not. It is in the Custom Field General Tab.

Issue: Had created custom fields. When adding images either through media manager or html, image is removed in certain custom text fields.
Solved: Make sure in Custom Field setup that the Filter option is set to Safe HTML.
