I get a console error after clicking 'Open', which means select in this case...

To better demonstrate it I again clicked your upload button in the screenshot. But the console error comes up after selecting the image.

Version Pro 2.8.3

Any thoughts?

I read someone installed all Joomla core files and that it helped, but that shouldn't be case right...

Yes that worked!

But the image did not land in the folder specified in the joomla custom field. Is that possible? :-)

The JCE File Browser uses the File Directory Path value used in Editor Profiles -> Editor Parameters -> Filesystem, or in Editor Profiles -> Plugin Parameters -> File Browser.
