Hi! When we creat a Joomla custom field 'media' we can set a 'default' folder to go to when using this media field. The JCE popup does not always open in the selected folder, because (I think) JCE remembers the last used folder. Is there a way to force the JCE editor/imagebrowser to always open in the selected folder that is set in the custom Joomla field?
Kind regards,
Jip.

The default folder that the JCE File Browers opens is set in the File Directory Path field in
Editor Profiles -> Editor Parameters -> Filesystem
or
Editor Profiles -> Plugin Parameters -> File Browser

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for your reply. But this is not what I am looking for. I know there is a default folder option in JCE. I also know JCE remembers the last opened folder.
My question is about the CUSTOM FIELD option /parameter for a custom filed of the type 'Media'. This custom field type uses a media manger (inthis case JCE) to add a URL to an image / file to the field. This custom field typ 'media' has an option / parameter to set the default folder you want to open when you are going to select the media. So this should 'override' both the last used as well as the JCE default folder to be opened.
Is this possible?
For clarification I added two screenshots.

The "Directory" field does not apply to the JCE File Browser, as the the path for the File Browser is controlled by Editor Profiles.
A new Media (JCE File Browser) field is being introduced in the next update to fix issues with using the Media field in nested categories. This new field does not include the same options as the Joomla media field.

Hi Rian,
I am not sure I understand you correctly. You are saying the selected folder (directory) that is used by the Media custom field is not used to open the corresponding folder in the JCE file browser. Right? That's also what I am saying ;-) My question was if it is possible to actually do use this directory value. But from your answer I would conclude this is not possible at the moment. Right? This also not something you could somehow add in a new version?
Besides this, you mention there is a new custom field type is coming specifically for opening the JCE file browser? Why is this needed? Does the Media custom field not work OK? And you say this field also does not include the folder you would like to open on selecting the media? What would be the benefits of a dedicated JCE media field?
I'm just a little bit confused by your answer ;-)

Correct. None of the Media field options are used by the JCE File Browser.

No, because this conflicts with the way JCE Profiles work, and the ability to restrict users to specific folders. The Directory list in the Media field options might not sync with the JCE Profile File Directory Path value.

When using nested categories with an assigned media field, the media field is not converted to a JCE File Browser field, because the field is not loaded in a way that JCE can intercept and alter it as required.
