Suddenly very long loading times
Since the last update I have very long load times in the backend.
I have created a folder for each year.
In these folders are the photos for the contributions of a year.
There are about 1500 photos in each folder.
So that not every time the whole folder of JCE is loaded, I have set that only the last 10 or 25 files should be displayed.
This has always worked. But now apparently all files are always loaded in the background !!
I think there is a mistake in the last update.
I have also attached a photo.

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.

When reading items (files and folders) from a path with PHP, the whole list is always read and returned. PHP does not have a method to only read a portion of the list, so the portion required for display in the file browser is extracted from the full list.
If this list is very large - as in your 1500 files - and the the server is slow, then it may take some time to read the full list.
There has not been a fundamental change in JCE 2.8 that would have slowed this process down relataive to previous versions.

Please try JCE Pro 2.8.1 RC6 - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/editor/pro/development
This includes a fix for the Limit issue, plus some optimisations to speed up loading with large file sets.

Hi
Version 2.8.1 RC6 does not work at all. No announcement. White field.
I uninstalled this version in Joomla.
I have now returned to version 2.7.17 and everything works perfectly again!!!!!!!!!!
Very fast list in the advanced image manager. With the setting "Display 10 images" these images are loaded very fast!!!!!!
So there must be an error starting with version 2.8.0.

You said in a previous post that you noticed the change when you installed 2.7.20. What about 2.7.19? - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/editor/pro/jce-pro-2719

Yes of course, since many years. Because i have a lot of folders (one folder for one year).
But this was never a problem.
Since JCE Pro 2.7.20, the Directory Filter values could now contain variables (as with the File Directory Path value) but this required additional processing which was not done efficiently.
I think I have fixed this in JCE Pro 2.8.1 RC7 and would appreciate it if you could test it (given your unique setup) - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/editor/pro/development

Hi. I will try it next week on a testserver.
King regards.
I also have an idea for the future:
Optimal would be a separate identifier of the file for large updates concerning the core of JCE.
For example:
.....
JCE Pro 2.8.1
JCE Pro 2.7.20 core (or major etc..)
JCE Pro 2.7.19
JCE Pro 2.7.18
JCE Pro 2.7.17
So you know right away that in this update rough changes have been made ...
(Only an idea :-)
