JCE 1.1.0 beta 2 released! - (And then re-released!)

Hi,

JCE 1.1.0 beta 2 has been released, and due to a stupid mistake on my part, re-released with some critical fixes that affect the Editor Mambot and plugins. If you had already downloaded these packages any time before 04/12/2006, 10:00 AM (GMT+2), please download and install them again.

There are a number of important changes in beta 2, the most important being the use of a set of custom ajax functions (which also use the mootools ajax class), instead of the xajax library. This was necessary because of frontend conflicts with other modules and mambots that uses xajax which could not be resolved.

All plugins that use ajax have therefore been updated (all the Manager plugins and the AdvLink plugins), and the Caption plugin has had a minor update.

There is also a new DocLink plugin, that provides the ability to browse through DocMan documents using the familiar Manager interface, and insert links to these documents in a way similar to the File Manager plugin and the original DocLink extension. Unlike the origianl DocLink plugin, these inserted links are now editable.

In order to prevent users trying to install older 1.0.x plugins, which are incompatible with the new 1.1.0 system, the plugin installer requires the XML file to have a 1.1.0 version number. All new plugins have been updated with this, only the Simpleboard plugin is not, and will be soon.

Update: One thing I forgot to mention in the initial posting of this article is that 'Guests' are now supported as an access level.

Important:

After installing the new Admin Component and Editor Mambot, I recommend clearing your browser cache, and once the editor has loaded for the first time, doing a hard refresh (CTRL +F5). Javascript seems to have a horrible way of sticking to the browser cache, nad this will ensure that the newest installed files are loaded and not older ones which although may have the same name, contain vastly different contents, which would prevent many things from not working properly.

I hope we can move JCE 1.1.0 out of beta soon, so please let me know (via the forum) of any problems or suggestions.

Thanks

Ryan.
